Hostwinds Now Accepts Alipay For Purchases From China

by: Hostwinds Team  /  May 25, 2018

Hostwinds is always looking for ways to better serve our clients, and today we're excited to announce something for all our clients in China… You now have Alipay as a payment option for any of our services!

What is Alipay?

China leads the world in the 3rd party mobile payments, with everything from fine dining establishments to the smallest vendors. Alipay, from Alibaba and affiliate Ant Financial, is by far one of the most popular platforms gaining traction.

Why Do Consumers in China Love Alipay?

Many websites now accept Alipay (some even offer it as the only option). Escrow service apps like Taobao and Tmail let users use Alipay. And the number of businesses that allow in-store purchases with Alipay is growing quickly, too.

Chinese consumers love Alipay, not just for making purchases, though. What is it that they love about Alipay? There are actually lots of things it's used for, including:

  • Transferring money between different Alipay accounts
  • Transferring money to bank accounts (and transfers only take a couple of hours)
  • Add time to mobile phone airtime
  • Pay utility and credit card bills with no extra fees tagged on
  • Check bank account balances

There are actually over 500 million registered Alipay users as of this writing. With so many Chinese consumers gravitating towards Alipay, it's no surprise that so many companies worldwide are adapting and starting to accept it as a formal payment option.

And Hostwinds is no exception. We strive to stay ahead of the curve and give our clients every option and benefit possible. So for our clients in China, we're happy to offer the ability to use something they love and already use.

Did you know we also accept Bitcoin and many different digital currencies? Is there a payment option not available that's holding you back from trying Hostwinds? Let us know in the comments or by contacting us, so we can look into it!
