A security firm has recently reported that a "_sophisticated group of hackers_, "suspected to have links to China's government, have been "_breaching_" computer systems of Iraq experts soon after the rebellion in the country began to escalate, according to a recent article published on the Reuters website. The article indicates that this same group is those who have "_targeted U.S experts on Asian geopolitical matters_" for years.

According to the article, security researchers at CrowdStrike Inc. have found that this group of hackers "is one of the most sophisticated_" out of approximately 30 groups it monitors in that country. They confirmed further in the article that the operations of this group "_are better hidden than many attributed to military and other government units." According to Dmitri Alperovitch, CrowdStrike's co-founder, was mentioned in the article to be confident that this hacker group has an affiliation with the Chinese government but could not "_provide many details on the matter_"the report.

According to the article, Alperovitch and his researchers at CrowdStrike cannot "recall such a sudden change in tasking_" before this point in time – even though "_hacking groups suspected of government backing do shift the industries they are going after." Alperovitch was quoted in the article to say, "It suggests you have pretty good control from probably very high levels of the Chinese government over these individuals." The report indicates that Alperovitch's team at CrowdStrike has hired "_a number of former U.S. government officials_" and the use of these resources "_has produced a number of influential reports on overseas hacking groups._"

Read more about this hacker group in the complete article and how upcoming attacks could impact the current situation in Iraq and the strained relationship between the United States and China.
