Managing DNS Settings
With our Cloud DNS Manager in the Cloud Portal, you can easily manage domain records for your Hostwinds cloud services. You can add your domain to our DNS Manager and manage many of your DNS records without going into the server itself. Please note that changes to DNS records can take up to 24 – 48 hours to be propagated and reflected over the internet.
Hostwinds provides multiple avenues for creating domains and adding them to your Hostwinds account. Following the steps below, you will be able to create, add, delete and register domains using your Hostwinds account.
Note: To manage your domains, you must log in to the Hostwinds Client Area. In addition, you may need to access your Cloud Control area for some actions. To do so, you will need to click on the Cloud Control dropdown on the top of the Client portal dashboard menu and click the Cloud Portal link.
Adding Domains From Your Cloud Control Area
Starting from your Cloud Control area, click on the Network dropdown link and click On the Domains link, which is the second from the top.
If you do not already have a domain, click the + Domain button, and a pop-up will appear to ask you for the domain name you want to add. Enter this domain into the field and click on the blue Add Domain button. Your domain should now appear in the domains table.
If you already have a domain, click the green Create dropdown button, and a pop-up will appear to ask you for the domain name you want to add. Enter this domain into the field and click on the blue Add Domain button. Your domain should now appear in the domains table.
Cloud Control Domain Management
The domains table provides a brief overview of the domains you have added to your Cloud Control domains area that we will go over now. On each row, the table displays an individual domain with the following information:
Domain: This domain you have added via the green Create button at the top of the dashboard.
Status: This shows the current status of your domain. Note that this will display as pending status if you have not configured your domain. To do so, you will need to register the Hostwinds nameservers with a domain provider if you have not purchased the domain through Hostwinds.
Nameservers: The nameservers currently associated with the domain.
Updated: The last Year, Month, Day, and Time you had updated the domain.
In addition to the information, and Actions dropdown link allows you to check the connection with the Check Link and delete the domain from the Cloud Control area using the Delete link.
